HP Welcomes Bill Wohl to New Role as Chief Communications Officer
In a new release issued today, HP announced that veteran public relations professional Bill Wohl has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer.
In this newly created position, Wohl will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating communications across the company. He will also be a senior advisor to HP President and CEO Léo Apotheker and report directly to him.
”Bill is a consummate professional who will lead the effort to articulate my vision and broader strategy for HP,” said Apotheker. ”He will help drive our entire business forward by conveying the value and the richness of HP, and the shared vision for our products and services.”

Bill Wohl is Senior Vice President & Chief
Communications Officer for HP. He leads HP’s worldwide communications
organization, and provides strategic communications counsel to the executive
team. His organization’s mission is to protect and enhance HP’s
reputation and strengthen the company’s brand among employees, shareholders,
customers, partners, influencers and other key stakeholders. Bill reports
directly to HP President & CEO Leo Apotheker. He is based in Palo Alto.
Bill
has a 25-year career in communications, and is recognized in the IT industry as
a leading strategic communications expert.
Prior
to joining HP, he worked for 12 years at SAP, where, as a member of the
company's senior leadership team, Bill was one of the company’s primary
spokespersons. He counseled SAP's CEOs and executive board members on
communications on major corporate and product topics, including strategy,
litigation, M&A and product launches. During his tenure, Bill directly led
communications efforts for key executives including, most recently, co-CEO Bill
McDermott, as well as former CEO Leo Apotheker and Shai Agassi, a former member
of the Executive Board.
Prior to SAP, Bill managed communications at the computer industry’s largest
independent hardware service provider, DecisionOne Corporation. Bill also led
public relations and communications at Remington Arms, a leading firearms and
sporting goods manufacturer, and at the DuPont Company. His first assignment was
on the public relations staff of the Office of the Governor of the State of
Delaware.
Bill holds a Bachelor Degree in Public Affairs from the University of
Delaware. In his spare time, he served more than 25 years as an
emergency medical technician and firefighter, responding to emergency 911 calls
for the volunteer fire department in West Grove, Pennsylvania (an organization
for which he also served in various leadership roles including President and
ambulance captain).
