I was listening to a podcast last week by 3 of HP’s technologists on 2012 tech trends. The information they covered is not a secret. We are definitely witnessing the emergence of some of the most innovative technological trends that this world has ever seen. The consumerization of IT, mobility, cloud computing and big data are challenging enterprises both technically and otherwise as customers demand easy and immediate access to more and more information.
And as Doug Chey mentioned in the podcast, enterprises are interested in these technologies because they want to move their companies to the “cutting-edge,” but with these great, new tools comes a renewed and very serious focus on enterprise security. How can you adopt these emerging technologies and ensure your infrastructure is secure at the same time?
Information security is a must and if anything, it’s more important than ever in a world where you have to share, collaborate and exchange data every day. Risks exist everywhere... in every business decision you make, every threat you encounter and every opportunity you consider.
And, IT security doesn’t slow down to let you catch up… it just keeps changing and growing, while attack vectors increase and inflict more challenges on your enterprise.
So while it’s necessary for you to move quickly when it comes to security, it’s also important to take enough time to assess exactly what the security risks are to your business and do some serious thinking about how you will manage those risks.
HP uses a risk-based, business orientated methodology to move you through each phase of a security lifecycle that we call ATOM. This process helps enterprises:
- Assess where you are today.
- Transform your enterprise to better manage risk and capture opportunity.
- Optimize your environment to improve compliance and enable your enterprise for our very mobile, information anywhere world.
- Manage your infrastructure from a proactive security posture.
You could call ATOM a journey that helps move you toward a secure enterprise while you gain the flexibility you need to be a “cutting-edge” company in a world with open and collaborative customers and employees.
What moves are you making to keep up with the hottest technology trends and also ensure your enterprise is secure? What challenges are you encountering?
