by Paul Schwarzenberger, MSc, CISSP, Enterprise Security Architect, HP
In 2011, I completed the MSc Information Security at Royal Holloway, University of London. I recently presented to current students on the course at a Royal Holloway conference, on the subject of my dissertation “Comparison of Microsoft DirectAccess with Conventional VPN Technologies”.
While at the conference, I recorded a video for the University of London, speaking about my experiences of studying for the degree, and my opinions of the MSc course.
“My role as an Enterprise Security Architect at HP is to advise customers on information assurance issues and new security technology developments, and to develop solutions and services to meet their needs.
My studies for the Royal Holloway MSc in Information Security by distance learning were supported by my employer, as part of HP’s policy of developing the skills and expertise of its staff, in order to provide the highest levels of professional services expertise to our enterprise customers.
Achieving the Masters has significantly benefited my career in Information Security; previously, I provided specific technical advice to our customers, but now, with the breadth and depth of knowledge gained during the MSc, I also deliver security strategy consulting to senior executives at HP’s global enterprise customers.
I would certainly recommend the Royal Holloway MSc to anyone wishing to gain a very well recognized Information Security qualification, to extend their knowledge in the subject, and enhance their professional career. The degree has an excellent reputation in academia and industry worldwide, and it offers a wide range of options which allowed me to combine my studies with a demanding career and busy home life.”
