Of late, I have become an avid reader of the HP Industry Edge ezines. I have shared my ezine experiences in multiple blog posts recently including those on Financial Services and Health Care and Life Sciences. This weekend, I perused the one on Communications. The lead article in this edition is Profiting from the new normal in IT and Telecom by David Sliter, vice president and general manager of the Communications, Media and Entertainment (CME) Solutions organization at HP. It also references several case studies on solutions that deliver on outcomes that matter.

Data Tsunami and Information Explosion join forces to change our daily lives

The world will have 15 billion devices in 2 years -- twice the number of people on Planet Earth today -- with 50 billion devices projected by 2015, says HP CTO for Communications and Media Solutions, Jeff Edlund in this video live from HP Discover 2012 where he converses with Nigel Upton on the explosion of content and data in the Internet. Jeff characterizes this phenomenon as a Data Tsunami – which I find to be quite apt given these numbers.

Dealing with the Data Tsunami

tsunami.jpgHurricane season conjures up images of giant waves, lots of rain and tons of traffic on the highways as people evacuate to higher ground.  At HP Discover last week, two of our brightest minds from Communications and Media Solutions - Jeff Edlund and Nigel Upton - talked about what is causing the explosion in Internet traffic, and how to deal with the data tsunami.
