State governments that administer Medicaid are often in reactive mode, barely able to keep up with the demand for enrollment applications. With the help of HP Enterprise Services, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) was able to create an online enrollment system called SoonerCare. HP was contracted to design, develop and implement a new Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), which would allow for online enrollment.
HP Enterprise Services leveraged its flexible Medicaid Management System design to create a new automated enrollment subsystem for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. View the video and read the case study.
By now it is pretty obvious, even to the casual observer, that there is a sea of change in our healthcare system. ACA, HITECH, HIPAA, ICD-10 and a myriad of other mandates have dramatic ramifications that are significantly transforming the system as we have known it.
One result of these and other elements in this dramatic paradigm shift is that a variety of vehicles have been or are being developed to help bring all of the elements of healthcare together in a more systemic/holistic and interconnected way via integrated, web-based care management.
