Excited to begin implementing the new Management Infrastructure, HP OneView?

Now that you have seen the great videos and demos of HP OneView, you are ready to do your first implementation on HP OneView with Virtual Connect. And you find yourself at the keyboard of your development system, the HP OneView trial downloaded, and ready to begin. Wouldn’t it be great to have a nice map or GPS voice telling you how to go from point A to point B? Guess what? We thought so too! Great minds think alike!

Transitioning to this new way of managing complex datacenters brings our customers the prospect of infrastructure management unlike any previously experienced. Our job at HP is to provide you a migration path that makes the transition from Virtual Connect Manager to HP OneView as simple and straight forward as possible. To help in this move, our HP engineering staff has compiled a technical whitepaper entitled “Transitioning a Virtual Connect Configuration to HP OneView”. This document describes the process of transitioning an existing Virtual Connect domain to one managed by HP OneView. The process for migrating Virtual Connect domains from a Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM) domain group into HP OneView is also described.

Planning and preparation

Transitioning an existing infrastructure from a Virtual Connect Manager (VCM) environment to one being managed by HP OneView requires inventory and evaluation of the current environment before initiating the transition—to best determine when and how the environment should transitioned. You may be more hands on. You may want to know the bits and pieces of the technology and take it upon yourself to migrate. For you this whitepaper is valuable information.

There is another set of customers who prefer HP does the migration for them. So, HP offers migration and education services. With HP performing the services, customers can move to HP OneView environment with minimal hassles and reap the benefits of HP OneView.
