Grow your business, not your data center: the next phase of HP ProLiant Gen8 BladeSystem innovations

Grow your business, not your data center: the next phase of HP ProLiant Gen8 BladeSystem innovations

Today’s rapid adoption of cloud and mobile computing combined are driving an explosion of data, which dramatically increases demands on customers’ data centers and has a ripple effect on server and storage infrastructure to efficiently scale capacity. This creates a huge challenge for customers already struggling to escape the trap of siloed infrastructure, which can’t scale and where 70% of IT budgets are trapped in operations and maintenance.  In addition, customers are recognizing the urgency of transitioning from their siloed infrastructure to speed innovation, enhance agility and improve financial performance.

HP has recognized two key priorities for customers on how to transform their infrastructures to effectively address these business issues. Our customers are extending virtualization to their most demanding, compute-intensive applications, as the foundation for private and hybrid cloud. They are also being inundated by an explosion in the global demand for information causing them to turn to technology solutions built on a massive scale to respond. With this next phase of HP ProLiant Gen8 BladeSystem innovations, here is how HP enables customers to meet those challenges:

•             Announcing a new paradigm in server infrastructure for virtualizing large, compute-intensive applications as the foundation for cloud with the HP ProLiant BL660c Gen8 4S, density-optimized blade server fully enabled with Gen8 capabilities. The new server blade offers 4 socket density in half the size without compromising on performance, scalability & expandability

•             Enhancements to Virtual Connect modules and the new HPN 6125 Switches. With 80% traffic being server-to-server, customers looking to expand virtualization to their most data-intensive apps need modernized networks designed to handle the bandwidth intensive workloads of virtualization and cloud environments in terms of capacity and performance, while providing fault-tolerance.

New Virtual Connect Flex-10/10D Module

Delivers more than enough capacity to handle even the most demanding enterprise data center needs:

•             Expanded uplink capacity 67% with the addition of 6 ports

•             25% increase of full duplex bandwidth capacity – that’s 600Gb of capacity

•             “FCoE-Ready”, with full DCB standard compliance

With new innovations to continue to simplify your transition to virtualized environments and Cloud computing. The areas we focused on improving include:

  • Simplify your networking and storage infrastructure
  • Capacity Utilization planning with new telemetry statistics
  • Intelligent Management capabilities for high availability and secure computing

New HP 6125G and HP 6125G/XG switches for BladeSystem c-Class enclosure features:

  • Bring proven data enter technologies of HP Networking’s rack based switches to the blade server edge.
  • Combine HP blade switches at the enclosure, rack or data enter level into a single virtual switch, providing resiliency, redundancy and fast failover times.
  • Use of HP’s Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF) also doubles the amount of resources available for bandwidth and data transport over existing networks that rely on Spanning Tree or other network technologies, and flattens the network to provide the performance required by virtualization and server-server traffic.
  • These switches use the same proven Comware OS as the rest of the HPN switch portfolio and can be provisioned and managed through HPN’s Intelligent Management Center (IMC) allowing for simplified single pane of glass control of an entire network.

As our customers are recognizing the urgency of transitioning from their siloed infrastructure, to speed innovation, enhance agility and improve financial performance, HP is once again providing solutions to help them meet the most demanding business challenges in today’s challenging economic times.
