One million and counting
1,000,000. One million. 106. No matter how you write it, that is a big number. I've never tried to count to one million. But now we have sold our millionth blade server; which is cause for reflection.
We created our blades products on the conviction that there was a better way to make IT infrastructure work. We knew from customers that deploying, managing and changing IT was challenging, time-consuming, expensive, and power hungry. It was this desire to help solve these challenges that lead us to create the BladeSystem that we offer today.
People's opinions vary on why customers have bought over a million blades from HP. Some people think it stems from Shorty's presidential run (after all there is some attraction to a candidate with a proven track record of saving time, cost, and energy!). Others think that BladeSystem is just a cool product. Perhaps it is cutting-edge products like our 2-in-1 ProLiant BL2x220c blade server.
As for me, I think customers like the time-saving, cost-saving, and energy-saving technologies built into BladeSystem. They like having a single point of infrastructure from which they can deploy their various servers and applications. They like the intuitive way BladeSystem is deployed and managed.
In any case, we are glad that we are able to help customers. We are happy whenever BladeSystem can be a part of addressing their biggest pain points. We are excited to be the first to achieve this milestone. But we are not done yet on helping customers reduce costs and energy; to make BladeSystem faster to deploy, manage and change.
So hang onto your hats - we have a lot still to come!

OUTSTANDING industry first achievement !.....
In addition to customer's clearly picking c-Class as thier data center infrastructure platform of choice (more than IBM and 4X more than Dell share wise per IDC). Also great to see customers validating the TCO/ROIC value prop of other (above and beyond the servers) c-Class innovations first such as Virtual Connect... as you said above - we still have alot more to come!

Ficamos bastante felizes com esta marca.
E uma arma ótima ao nosso favor e também argumento para os nossos clientes de blade e os que ainda não entraram neste mundo.

No doubt, one million is a big number in anyone's book - and a laudable milestone for HP. But let's give some credit where credit is due, namely to Dell and IBM.
I just returned from the Microsoft Partner Conference where the offerings from HP, Dell, and IBM were on display. After looking closely at all of the products, it was immedaitely obvious why Dell and IBM are lagging the sales numbers of HP.
The IBM blade for the SMB market looked like an old refrigerator lying on its side - it was HUGE. Add to that the barely muffled (extra cost feature), mind-numbing roar coming from its industrial-sized fans and it was clear why their sales are lagging. How anyone could get passed the hideous design and noise is beyond me.
Glancing at the Dell equivalent left me scratching my head. It looks an awful lot like HP BladeSystem, but there are only two server blades options, no storage blades and your choice of Cisco, Cisco or Cisco for netwoking. BTW, the Cisco switches are missing most of the Cisco features that made thier other switches popular.
Looking at the BladeSystem was a treat. Excellent design, space efficient, quiet and choice - lots of choices for server, storage and networking.
So, HP, give credit to Dell and IBM for helping in your success. And give credit to your customers for being intelligent enough to cut through the cr@p spewed out by Dell and IBM to see the reasons for buying one million HP blades.

This is an excellent news, such a massive endorsement by customers from all segments and sizes proves the merit of C class design.
Following the great ProLiant tradition, I am sure that the next 1 million would come at half this time.

Congratulations to HP!
I was also at the Microsoft event and it was clear that R&D investments on HW and SW management have leapfrogged HP way ahead of IBM, and that Dell are not really a serious player in the blade space anyway (nothing on the booth, no SMB offering).

A million Blades....and a billion smiles...
I wouldn't be surprised if Blades become a de facto standard and part of the college curriculum in the near future. Truly HP has set the benchmark with its world class blades and Insight Control management portfolio.
Kudos to HP!

Fantastic achievement , congratulations .
I hope that one reason we are outselling IBM and Dell Blades is that we back ours with the largest and best Remote Monitoring and Mangement program in the industry , which customers get as part of their warranty. If you have any doubts just go to the HP SIM web page and look at the Service Essentials Remote Support Pack.
