Now, more than ever, IT managers are under enormous pressure to deliver applications and services faster which drive, innovate, and transform their business. At the same time, their job is becoming increasingly complex with datacenters becoming more sophisticated. As a result, traditional infrastructures and legacy networks are unable to meet the business demands to accelerate delivery of these new services at a lower cost. The speed of service delivery is inhibited by available bandwidth shared across applications, storage and networking resources. Performance, efficiency, and simplicity are required for physical, virtual, and cloud-computing environments, driving IT to adopt a converged infrastructure platform with easily managed network connections.

Today, HP announces the new HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric-20/40 F8 module for HP BladeSystem  as well as two new HP FlexFabric Dual-port 20Gb 630 Series adapters for HP BladeSystem. Only HP BladeSystem with Virtual Connect gives you simplicity and freedom to build network connections optimized for your business – converging server, network and storage solutions, all managed by HP OneView. HP Virtual Connect continues to be the simplest way to connect servers to any network - a proven architecture with over 10 million HP Virtual Connect ports shipped.  To date, HP Virtual Connect technology has reduced over 60,000 km of cable from data centers, or the equivalent of wrapping network cable around the Earth over 1.5x times.

The wire-once simplicity of Virtual Connect allows customers to accelerate operations and speeds delivery of applications and services running in physical, virtual, and cloud-computing environments with unprecedented ease of use. Putting the new performance enhancements into perspective, the new Virtual Connect FlexFabric module would allow customers to simultaneously stream all the movies and TV shows on Netflix in High Definition (HD) on a single 40GbE port!

Now customers can deploy and manage their network fabric environment faster and at lower cost, while maximizing IT staff productivity. The new HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric-20/40 F8 module delivers:

Performance:  Deliver services at the speed of business

  • Industry’s first and only adapters to stream converged 10Gb Ethernet and 8Gb Fibre Channel storage simultaneously over a native 20Gb KR2-based port, maximizing network investment
  • 4x increase in uplink bandwidth and 2.3x increase in aggregate bandwidth with the first Virtual Connect module to deliver 40Gb Ethernet connectivity
  • Reduce latency up to 73% resulting in increased workload efficiency

Efficiency: Minimize data center total cost of ownership

  • 95% hardware savings and 65% cost savings with wire-once HP Virtual Connect technology over rack environments
  • 86% fewer components and 50% lower costs using HP Virtual Connect Flat SAN technology with HP 3PAR storage

Simplicity: Simplify operations to deliver faster results

  • 9x faster troubleshooting over legacy networking with HP OneView
  • Proactively address network congestion with sFlow, delivering a real-time and integrated view of network traffic

Here is what GarantiTeknoloji had to say about this latest Virtual Connect module. Garanti Teknoloji manages the IT infrastructure for Garanti Bank, as well as for other companies in the Doğuş Group, a large Turkish conglomerate.

“GarantiTeknoloji saw  with the increasing demand of compute-intensive data produced by  virtualization, that this was creating a strain on their network. GarantiTeknoloji needed to refresh the network connectivity to provide more throughput, while also lowering costs.  We chose the new HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric-20/40 F8 module to help achieve our goals for more efficient, end-to-end operations. We’ve already seen a 60% performance boost compared to our existing platforms.  With the added bandwidth, GarantiTeknoloji is able to tackle the more demanding workloads needed to support GarantiTeknoloji’s application or end-market.”
