The Tech of Shrek
Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc., took the stage at HP Tech Forum 2010 in Las Vegas to talk about the partnership that began between HP and DreamWorks in 2001 with the first Shrek movie. DreamWorks relies on HP technology to help create their stunning, innovation animated films. As Katzenberg said “HP makes our dream work, and if they can do it for us, they can do it for anybody”.
Well, to see this almost 10 year partnership in motion, HP recently teamed up with DreamWorks to create “The Tech of Shrek”. The video depicts the how HP helped DreamWorks achieve the artistry and animation in the Shrek series, from the data center (rack and blade servers, storage and networking), to the desktop – including DreamColor monitors, workstations and printing solutions. DreamWorks also relied heavily on virtual collaboration via Halo, to ensure what artists in Northern and Southern California were seeing the same thing in the same way.
