There is a lot of excitement around cloud computing, but like any technology, cloud is not without issues and concerns. The adoption of any new technology, especially one that is changing as fast as cloud, requires some thought and preparation. If you don’t address IT infrastructure issues before jumping in, your success will be limited.

This HP Discover breakout session will help you better position your company to be prepared for the adoption of cloud-based technologies. We’ll discuss ideas on how to prepare for cloud computing, as well as considerations on what should move to the cloud and what shouldn’t.

This session will include a transformation overview, a discussion of HP's findings and a brief overview of HP's Data Center Transformation Experience Workshop.

This session will be led by Mark Grindle, a Master Business Consultant in HP’s Data Center Infrastructure Services practice.  He joined HP in January 2007 and in his role Mark works with customers to help them understand how their IT Strategies can have tangible and significant impact to their businesses.   Mark is recognized as an expert in Data Center Transformation and has many years of experience helping organizations drive change.  He has helped with refining and enhancing the HP Data Center Transformation Experience Workshop and is considered a key HP resource for IT strategy development and execution.  Recently Mark was recognized as an HP Brand Ambassador due to his commitment to service, quality, and customer engagement.

Prior to joining HP, Mark held several senior leadership roles including CTO at GE Global Research, Vice President of Enterprise Infrastructure at GE Capital, Vice President of Global Infrastructure Services at the Gillette Company, and CIO of Value Line Investments. In each of these roles Mark executed Transformational programs that improved productivity, modernized IT, reduced cost, and benefited the business. Mark uses these experiences as well as his HP consulting work with customers such as United Airlines, Abbott Labs, and Liberty Mutual to continue to help customers Transform and provide thought leadership in the evolution of IT.

Mark has more than 25 years of experience in Information Technology Internationally and is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He has worked, or consulted, in most major industries including consumer goods, manufacturing, insurance, financial services, pharmaceutical, transportation and entertainment. His areas of expertise include IT shared services, next-generation IT strategy and planning, voice and data networks, service desk, data center management and operations, and systems optimization.
