Cybercrime is evolving into a full-fledged industry. Are you ready?

Security is a top concern for all enterprises today. However, the IT security landscape has evolved so quickly, and continues to do so, that few standards or best practices exist yet. Enterprises are still trying to figure out how to stay secure on an individual level.

As a top enterprise concern, security topics were addressed in depth at HP Discover 2013 in Barcelona. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the full range of HP security products and services, speak with security experts, and attend multiple breakout sessions addressing specific security topics.

In this video from the show floor, HP Enterprise Security CTO Jacob West explains the IT security imperative, and how HP is responding to these needs.

West outlines how cybercrime has evolved into a sophisticated underground marketplace in which cybercriminals are collaborating, sharing information, and developing areas of expertise that complement various cybercrime “campaigns.”

Essentially, cybercrime has turned into a full-fledged industry, and it is time for enterprises to take a more sophisticated view toward defending themselves. Maintaining a secure perimeter is only the first step. Enterprises need to do more to ensure their data and assets are safe.

West outlines the strategic acquisitions that HP has made over the past couple of years to flesh out its security solutions and how it is complementing those solutions with research. West also offers his top 3 tips for addressing enterprise security.
