Saying goodbye to the ITRC... And hello HP Support Center!

Ever since it was released in the mid 1990's, the IT Resource Center (ITRC) has been an extremely popular portion of HP's website.  Enterprise and IT professionals looking to resolve issues, download drivers or firmware, interact with their peers in the forums, submit support cases, or chat with a support agent have returned again and again to the ITRC for all of those types of needs plus many others.

Here at HP Discover 2011, the HP Technology Services Web Services team has been proudly informing customers who are stopping by our pavilion in the HP Discover Zone (booth IS-2 in the Industries and Services Pavilion.. *plug plug*) about the all-new HP Support Center, which will replace the ITRC support portal later this June.

Almost everyone we've asked "Are you familiar with the ITRC?" has known about the portal, and in most cases known it very well.  So it's been very exciting to give them some "sneak peaks" at the new HP Support Center site, and some previews of the improved and enhanced functionality.  Of course everything that a frequent visitor to the ITRC is used to having available to them will continue to be offered - but in many cases (such as Support Case Manager, managing support contracts, search, and our support forums), the capability will be greatly enhanced with even better usability and improved options.

For users concerned that you'll have to "start all over" with this transition, we'll have a migration tool available the day the HP Support Center goes live - which will allow you to migrate all of your entitlements from your legacy ITRC account into an HP Passport account (which you likely already have, as HP Passport is utilized in many other areas of hp.com).  Being able to use HP Passport with the new HP Support Center is yet another benefit where we've listed to our customers ("Why do I need to have multiple profiles/accounts for different parts of hp.com?") and implemented changes all based on making your support portal experience more personalized, streamlined, and as straight-forward as possible.

If you're familiar with the ITRC and want some additional information about the new HP Support Center while here at HP Discover, please be sure to stop by booth IS-2 in the Industries and Services Pavilion (one more shameless plug!) and chat with myself or one of my teammates - we can give you a lot more detail about any of the particular features or capabilities, and we'd love your input on the transition, or what we can do with future releases of the HP Support Center portal to make it even better!

If you weren't able to attend HP Discover this year, you can find a lot of additional information on the the HP Support Center overview site - and please feel free to post any questions here as comments as well!
