How does your IT department stack up? Free assessments at HP DISCOVER

Two new assessment tools, debuting at HP DISCOVER (our big customer event held June 6-9 in Las Vegas) are generating buzz at the show.  What these two assessments provide is a benchmark against your peers.

If you are at HP Discover stop by the Software Pavilion in the Discover Zone  and take the assessments.  If you could not make it to the show this year, don’t fret.   Both assessments are available on hp.com.

Why Bill Nye the Science Guy would like HP Discover

I’ve been lucky this year to be able to explore two fascinating future worlds.  In February I visited EPCOT Center, Disney’s Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow, and today I am meeting customers, helping bloggers and learning much about the future of technology at HP DISCOVERin Las Vegas.  The similarities between these two venues are a lot closer than you might think.

Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye, the Science Guy, would be the perfect hosts for the HP EcoPOD exhibit here as they hosted Ellen’s Energy Adventure exhibit at EPCOT.   For companies with power, cooling or space limitations, the HP Performance Optimized Data Center (POD) 240a, nicknamed the “EcoPOD," delivers capacity and efficiency as well as significant energy savings—especially with the HP Adaptive Cooling Technology. At DISCOVER, an impressive EcoPOD demo was brought in and assembled on the conference floor so CIOs, VPs of IT and other IT professionals could see for themselves how the tiny modular data center packs an economical and ecological punch while delivering big capabilities.

Get charged up at HP DISCOVER

I’m going to DISCOVER in a few weeks and I’m really looking forward to it.  After all, HP’s largest customer event will be in sensational Las Vegas, and that’s always fun.  There will be more than 800 exhibits, displays, demos, sessions and hands-on labs, and those are always educational, thought-provoking and packed with useful, relevant information.  And there will be  celebrities at DISCOVER --comedians Dama Carvey and  Jake Johannsen  and the world’s most successful songwriter ever, music legend  Paul McCartney.  This kind of entertainment is not to be missed!

But while the sessions promise to be jam-packed with relevant education and the entertainers will be fantastic, they aren’t the main reason I’m charged up and raring to go to DISCOVER.   What excites me the most about these types of conferences are the fresh perspectives, new insights and diverse people I meet.
