Spaciba! Shukran! Danke! Cámơn! Merci! Grazie! Bedankt! Gracias! Todah rabah! Thank you!

Picture_CM_small.jpgHello! I’m Cameron McClure and I am delighted to be thanking you directly.

Languages have always been my passion—hearing them, learning them, using them. I’ve always loved learning languages because I want to connect with the world and people around me. . . to connect in ways beyond my comfort levels to be sure that I listen and learn from others.

That’s why it is a particular privilege to be at HP, where we strive to listen to you, our customers. As with learning new languages, we have to listen carefully, understand your concerns and goals, as well as appreciate your history. Each customer is as distinct as a new language, bringing a richness of tonality, lexicon, and poetry. This uniqueness drives us to have a true dialogue and build a partnership based on identifying and addressing common and fundamental needs. The partnership with our customers is forged through dialogue, collaboration, and goodwill.

Thanking Royal Dutch Shell

In this particular “thank you” message, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Royal Dutch Shell for its strong collaboration with HP.

Energy is a hot topic—methods for acquiring or producing it, measures of how to use it efficiently, efforts to conserve it.  Unfortunately it can often become a contentious discussion, even among likeminded people.  Yet despite that, I am using it as I sit here to craft my message to you. And you are using it to read my message.  We all need it, we thrive on it.

In a world where energy needs are prompting us to explore new sources, we must maximize our existing resources. I fear “drill, baby, drill” will cause much more harm than good. Royal Dutch Shell recognized the virtue of prudence and, together with HP, has developed a new technology that enables exploration and discovery through a method that is the least environmentally disruptive.

This partnership endures as a complex and strong collaborative effort between HP and Royal Dutch Shell. I would like to thank Shell for working with us, for sharing your requirements and expectations, and for working through the many phases in the past several years to bring this concept to reality. Thank you for your consideration of our environment displayed by this revolutionary concept, your faith in our willingness to listen and learn and your recognition of HP’s dedication.

Harnessing the forward-thinking energy of our customers

I am grateful to the forward-thinking mindset of our many customers—with thoughts beyond improving just their own business, but also improving the world we live in. The need for energy has given us all a new lexicon: “solar power”, “wind power” and now, thanks to Royal Dutch Shell and HP,  “onshore wireless seismic acquisition system.”

We listened and we heard you.  Thank you for having this dialogue with us, allowing us to learn your language and sharing that with the world.

I wish everyone in the U.S. a Happy Thanksgiving spent with dear friends and family.
