As we start a new year, many of us look forward to starting with a clean slate. It may be through a resolution to do something better or cut down on a bad habit. Gyms are packed the first of the year. We watch what we eat. And we come back from the holidays refreshed and ready to kick things off yet again.
But what about translating this into the daily grind of our jobs?
As a novice runner and former collegiate athlete, I have often looked to start a new training schedule or challenge myself with a new goal; but this year I wanted to apply this tactic to my professional career. Let’s face it, when we work as many hours as we do, this type of a resolution would logically benefit us, right? As a marketer, my job is to provide sales tools and collateral to our field, channel and customers to help them understand our products and solutions to ultimately be successful.
Why not ring in 2012 by making it a goal to stop and appreciate our customers?
Today, I would like to dedicate this thank you to SHI International for its innovation and partnership that I was able to experience firsthand.
Last year, while at one of our major trade shows, I ended my booth duty early and was able to pop into one of the last remaining breakout sessions of the show that was hosted by SHI. As I sat and listened to the speaker, he shared SHI’s new cloud computing service solution and its ability to allow “on-demand” computing capacity. Within minutes, I was deeply drawn into the intricacy of this highly advanced solution and quickly identified the very strong partnership SHI has with HP.
SHI needed to develop a much more effective, highly scalable data center design to gain a competitive advantage and was able to do so with HP.
As I sat in the audience, I couldn’t help but feel what a rare opportunity it was to not only hear from a customer directly but also hear from them while they presented to other customers. When the presentation ended, I walked out of the breakout room no longer tired but invigorated with pride and appreciation. I felt proud that HP was able to provide such a critical solution to such an innovative company and appreciative for SHI’s business and support.
Now looking back, I know that there is no greater gift than hearing from our customers.
It is what continues to improve and reaffirm our work here at HP and for that I thank you, SHI International.
