Evolving Branch Demands Need Evolving Branch Routers

By Josh Dreyfuss, Product Marketing Manager, HP Networking

Josh DreyfussThe other day, my friend was telling me a story about the troubles he was having downloading a 250 Mb file on his phone at his office. He couldn’t believe all the server connection errors, false starts and general difficulty he had in downloading this file. And I found myself completely agreeing with him. It was outrageous that this 250 Mb file wasn’t downloading quickly and without issue on the random mobile device that he had brought from home. That is the expectation today. All around the world, employees’ demands for data, cloud connectivity, mobility, and unified communications and collaboration in the branch offices where they work are increasing. Unfortunately, many organizations are realizing that their limited legacy networks can’t keep up. This isn’t breaking news: branch networks must simplify.

The MSR Router Series has been designed with that need in mind for its nearly decade-long existence. The HP MSR family has consistently focused on simplicity by delivering a Branch-in-a-Box solution, integrating networking functions and services like routing, switching, security, VPN, wireless, and 4G/3G all in a single device. By providing multiple concurrent services, the MSR enables organizations to reduce the complexity of coordinating and deploying several pieces of hardware, as well as realize TCO benefits. With the MSR, employees like my friend can enjoy reliable and high performance connections at branch offices worldwide.

Next Gen of MSR Routers

Last year, HP introduced the next generation of MSR routers. These new routers – the next generation MSR2000, MSR3000, MSR4000, and MSR93x – build upon the foundation provided by the MSR20, MSR30, MSR50, and MSR900. The next generation of routers takes the MSR family to the next level, delivering up to six times the performance at up to 73% less cost than other solutions on the market. And like all HP routers, the next generation MSR routers run the Comware OS, giving them a unified OS to enable ease of management across the entire HP router portfolio.

The MSR family has always focused on delivering simplicity, and the next generation of MSR routers continues on that mission. As users at your branch offices like my friend continue to demand more and better services, make sure that your network will provide that to them. Keep an eye out for the latest developments.
