Get ready for HP Discover Vienna: sessions, hands-on labs, workshops with a networking focus
By Farhad Ghoreishi, Enterprise Business Development Manager, HP Networking EMEA
If the HP DISCOVER experience from Las Vegas is anything to go by, the Vienna event opening on November 29 will be an exciting show of force by HP. I’m the lucky one who has to manage preparing the networking track at the event.
What to expect at HP DISCOVER Vienna
HP DISCOVER Vienna will be held at the Messe Exhibition Hall, Messeplatz 1, 1020 Vienna, Austria. The goal of the event is to demonstrate HP’s ability to deliver infrastructure and software solutions enabling the cloud and to offer services to define, design, deliver and manage those solutions. From what I’ve seen, I think we’re going to do that very effectively.
Customers from across Europe will be able to focus on specific areas of interest from cloud computing to specific solutions around servers, storage and networking, or specific industries such as finance, manufacturing, telco and so on.
Focus: the networking track at HP DISCOVER Vienna
Planning started back in May 2011 with a great team of HP enterprise marketing, product managers, technical marketing and presale folks collaborating to define a rich mix of breakout sessions, demos, hands-on labs and workshops to offer an educational and informative experience.
Hear customers sharing their stories
We will have a host of HP networking and network security experts available during the event to discuss solutions, projects, architecture and best practices. One of the many great things about this event is that we’re going to have some of our customers join us on stage to share the benefits of their own IT experiences with the audience.
They’ll talk about how they have transformed their data centres and specifically their networks. And they’ll discuss how HP has worked with them to deliver their transformation solutions. Working with customers to arrange these sessions has been one of the most enjoyable parts of the HP DISCOVER planning because I love working with our customers. It helps me keep my feet firmly on the ground!
Don’t miss these sessions:
- Track keynote: Bethany Mayer, senior vice president and general manager, HP Networking, will be providing updates on our strategy and value propositions. Don’t forget to book this session on your event schedule TK4590.
Customer breakouts: Don’t miss booking these sessions from the event session catalogue. They will be delivered by:
o Janjoris van der Lei, CEO, Datacenter Oostkamp – BB3680/Service Provider – 11:00 am; 29Nov11
o Patrick Lievens, IT manager, Roularta Media Group – BB3684/Comms & Media – 11:45 am; 30Nov11
o Franck Blonbou, security expert, EDF – BB7020/Energy & Distribution – 13:45 am; 30Nov11
o Jan De Sitter, CIO, GasthuisZusters Antwerpen Hospital Group – BB3685/Healthcare – 10:00 am; 1Dec11
- Breakout sessions: A rich mix of business and technology breakouts will be available throughout the event, covering networking and network security topics. The sessions span data centre networking, campus and branch networking and be extended by further presentations on network management, wireless LAN and intrusion prevention. The key common denominators across these sessions will be the importance of virtualisation and how HP networking solutions not only help increase the performance of virtualisation but also use virtualisation to deliver enhanced networking solutions.
- Hands-on labs and technical workshops: During the event make sure to leverage the hands-on labs on network management where you can try out and experience the HP Intelligent Management Center [IMC] as a true multivendor tool. (HOL4584) Also, you can experience how to enhance virtualisation performance and simplify your network architecture with the HP Virtual Connect and Intelligent Resilient Framework technology (IRF) and how to interconnect the two (HOL2880).
Technology showcase and exhibitions
When I first started working on HP DISCOVER Vienna, I was thinking we could get away with a couple of racks of our equipment. But as we started to develop the list of topics for each demo stand and focused on solutions like data centre, campus networking and network management, we soon ended up with six stands and seven racks. So I’m really excited about being able to showcase our solutions, which I hope will inspire you with new ways to transform your network.
Thanks to a tremendous team effort!
The effort required for building and configuring these racks, designing and finalizing the demos has been phenomenal and I want to take my hat off to my HP technical marketing and presales colleagues. And most of all, I hope our customers visiting us during DISCOVER will enjoy this chance to see our products in real-life, and our sessions, and most of all, take advantage of the presence of all our experts and executives.
Over the course of the next few weeks, I look forward to sharing more details about the plans for the networking track program at HP DISCOVER. Watch for these updates.
If you haven’t already registered, please go to the event site and check out the programs...and register! Let me know if you’re attending and make sure to come to our stands on the networking zone to meet up.
See you in Vienna!
