HP Networking showcases the new V-Series, a complete portfolio designed for SMB
Earlier this month HP Networking announced the new HP V1410 – a new generation of unmanaged switches offering gigabit connectivity without the need of additional configuration – making it the product of choice for small companies preferring quick simple installation, enabling them to focus on the business.
With the V1410 series, HP now offers a 16 port model as well as 8-port and 24-port versions. The device is designed to be mounted anywhere: on a table, under a table, on a wall, or in a rack. Wherever installed, the devices are silent (fanless!) and can be secured from theft with a Kensington lock - which may be quite efficient in environments such as class or meeting rooms to make sure the switch will not be misplaced or stolen.
At the same time the integration of 3Com significantly enriches the product offering for SMB customers - it is amazing to see how many products from 3Com match and complete the HP Networking SMB product portfolio. With this new “V-Series”, HP networking further enables users to build a complete solution. There are approximately 20 additional products that were adopted from 3Com to complement and extend the existing ProCurve portfolio.
In a nut shell, there are 3 additional areas covered in the V-Series:
1) V1910 Series comprises various PoE and non-PoE devices with an advanced feature set needed for VoIP solutions (e.g. traffic prioritization, auto-Voice VLANs, Access Control lists, authentication). There is no need to handle highly complicated tasks, a smart web management interface will help to get the system up and running.
2) For small businesses and branch offices the V110 Wireless N Router can provide secure and robust connectivity. This multi-talent box connects the network via DSL to the internet, integrates a firewall and provides wireless (802.11n) and wired LAN connectivity.
3) If you only need a few ports, the new entry level V1405 series begins with models from 5-ports Fast Ethernet, and extends up to a 24-port Gigabit speed switch.

I just spotted a good review of the 1410-24G over at ZDNetUK - where they scored it 8.5 out of 10.
"There's nothing not to like about the ProCurve 1410-24G, which will prove a highly useful addition to any SME network that requires a zero-admin device.…"
