Meeting the growing UC&C demand: HP and Microsoft deliver a strong partnership to the Channel

photo_52984_20110807.jpgFriends often ask me how I work from home without feeling isolated or lonely, but it’s really a non-issue.  I collaborate and meet with co-workers through IM, conference calls and virtual workspaces all day long. On a personal note, lhough my daughter lives thousands of miles away, I regularly “collaborate” with her regarding wardrobe choices and decorating ideas. In fact, the reality is that the communication and collaboration tools I use to stay connected both personally and professionally help me accomplish a lot more than any of the years I spent in an office.

Many of our small and mid-size customers are clamoring for the same access to unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) tools to improve business productivity and reduce cost as well.  Their employees are more mobile than ever, but with limited staff and budgets, they need to make every minute and dollar count.  They can’t afford to be disconnected from company information and co-workers – no matter where they are.

If you’re one of our SMB-focused channel partners, this is a great opportunity for you to get in on the growing demand for UC&C solutions.   According to IDC, this market is expected to reach to $44B in revenue by 2015.

Microsoft and HP: A strong partnership for the Channel

During the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference this week, we are launching a new initiative for our channel partners to quickly, easily and cost-effectively deliver a complete a HP UC&C solution with Microsoft® Lync® 2010 to SMBs.

This is the first joint solution that we’ve developed with Microsoft for the channel. It marks the next step in the evolution of the HP and Microsoft Lync 2010 initiative that was started three years ago.

This latest initiative includes a robust go-to-market toolkit that includes:

  • Tested and validated reference architectures that simplify deployment and reduce risk
  • Worldwide demand generation campaigns that can be customized
  • Sales and technical training, including webinars and in-person formats
  • Participation in the Microsoft Solution Incentives Program (SIP)
  • Training assistance to help partners access Microsoft Channel Incentives program for Lync
  • HP and Microsoft customizable sales and marketing collateral, including a solution brief, call guide,     presentation, event-in-a-box and introduction letters

We’re all familiar with Microsoft productivity applications. I’m going to guess that you use Microsoft Office, Microsoft photo_8727_20091014.jpgOutlook and Microsoft SharePoint® in your company. Microsoft has taken personal productivity tools one step further with a suite of unified communication and collaboration (UC&C) solutions. Microsoft Lync helps SMBs become even more productive by integrating diverse communication tools such as telecommunications, email and video conferencing for streamlined and improved connectivity between users. The familiar interface means faster employee adoption rates and faster time to ROI.

But a UC&C solution is only as good as its foundation.  And that’s where HP infrastructure plays a key role.  HP Converged Infrastructure includes networking, storage, server and management and provides a high-performance and highly reliable platform that ensures a consistent user experience, while reducing complexity and lowering TCO.  Because it’s standards-based, it can be deployed alongside existing investments.  No rip-and-replace required.
