Optimize your branch infrastructure with AllianceONE
I'm excited to be able to tell you that we've just announced a set of 5 new integrated applications, along with a new variant of the Services zl Module for the HP E5400 and E8200 switches. Together, these applications along with a HP E-Series switch provide a great converged solution because they are all available on services modules that slot directly into the switch. This provides a highly integrated solution, making it easier to deploy and maintain, with fewer cables and power-supplies.
The E5400 or E8200 families of
chassis provide either 6 or 12 slots, with optional in-chassis power and
control redundancy - which can be used to create a high-availability solution.
Each slot can also accept LAN interface cards with 24 ports of PoE GigE, or 4
ports of 10G, WLAN controllers, security modules.
So with this base, you can create a single-box solution with 24 to over 200 ports and up to 4 application modules including UC&C, a Session Border Controller, WAN acceleration, Load Balancing, and network monitoring. These 5 new solutions join the existing 9 integrated apps from AllianceONE partners which already cover video, RTLS, and security.
Networking applications
- With the introduction of the next version of Microsoft Lync (formerly known as CS Wave 14), Microsoft has created a branch-office optimized version of Lync Server 2010 which will allow you to continue working should your primary connection to the data center fail. It does this by transferring calls via a backup connection over the PSTN.
- A new HP Extended Services zl Module integrates Riverbed's market-leading WAN acceleration technology, Riverbed Steelhead RiOS® application which improves the speed and responsiveness of applications delivered across WAN links. The module, when installed in an E-Series 5400 or 8200 zl switch, provides the equivalent performance to the Riverbed Steelhead 1050M appliance.
- Avaya is introducing a version of is Aura platform packaged with a Session Border Controller from Acme Packet. This enables enterprises to secure and manage Unified Communications traffic entering the branch office. (Avaya press release, @devconnect's blog post on a HP/Avaya Secure SIP branch)
All three of the above solutions come preinstalled from HP on specific variants of the advanced service module.
- Citrix has been a HP partner for a long time, but haven't worked with HP Networking until now. Now Citrix has ported its NetScaler VPX product to the new advanced services module, providing web-application load balancing for mid-sized organizations. (Citrix press release, blog post)
- NetScout provides multivendor network monitoring using its nGenius Integrated Agent for HP that provides the network administrator with greater visibility of network operations in remote offices, through real-time app and performance metrics. (NetScout press release)
The applications from Citrix and NetScout are available from these vendors directly and can be loaded onto the Advanced services module, which is available from HP.
