“The world should know.” DAS opens its data center doors.

By Alicia Moody, Director of Sales Enablement, HP Networking

am.jpgJason Cohen, Global CIO of Diversified Agency Services (DAS), a division of Omnicom Group, said, “The world should know when partnering with HP, they not only have the goods, they have the processes, the people and the care to help companies succeed.”

Just last week, HP announced that DAS selected HP Converged Infrastructure solutions to improve the operational efficiencies and business continuity of its more than 160 agencies – and DAS opened its data center doors to show to world.

In 2010, DAS launched a massive project to migrate all its agencies to one geo-located data center with facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, and Atlanta, Georgia. The Omnicom agencies operate through a combination of networks and regional organizations, serving clients through more than 700 offices in 71 countries.

I had the unique opportunity to tour the brand new Atlanta data center, which is set to open next month. The day began with a presentation from Mike Banic, VP of Marketing for HP Networking.  Mike talked about the advances that HP has made in the industry in the past decade. He introduced a few of the networking products showcased in the new data center, including the 5800, 5900 and the 12518.

Then Jason Cohen discussed the overall project and why DAS chose HP.  He spoke about the white-glove service that DAS and his team has received from HP and the talent HP assigned to this project.  BG Naran, Deputy General Manager and Data Center Architect for Consolidated Data Services (CDS), a division of Omnicom Group, then outlined the specifics of the migration and took the team on a tour of the data center.

DAS opens doors to impressive data center

am_1.pngThe data center was impressive with racks of servers, storage and networking equipment. Now it’s ready and waiting to serve Omnicom’s network of 160 agencies.

HP offered differentiated solutions, from start to finish.  HP outlined an initiative that was different than what DAS had and it helped the team to make the best decisions for their business.  Then HP provided white-glove support that was unlike anything DAS had experienced.

This project is a great example of how the sale of the solution is only the beginning. The real take-a-way and Jason’s key message was that strong partnerships are vital to success.  Solution differentiation is part of the winning equation, but a successful partnership hinges on what happens after the sale and can make all the difference – and that is what our HP team strives to achieve with every client.
