sr.jpgIf you rent a car as often as I do, you’ve probably run into this: rushing to the airport, need to fill up the gas tank to avoid being gouged by your rental car company with a fuel surcharge, and you’re fuming (pun intended) at the gas station because you can’t find where the manufacturer put the fuel lid release in your late model fleet vehicle. If only there was a common, multi-vendor implementation of this seemingly trivial placement problem….

Re-reading that sentence, I’m not even inclined to agree with myself.  But I have to admit there has a been a time or two, when I wanted to avoid sitting in Friday night traffic, that I stopped off at a certain warehouse-style department store to kill some time…and as I walked through the aisles of couches and bookcases, surrounded by the white noise of other shoppers, I found myself feeling quite relaxed.  Why exactly?  It must have something to do with the simplicity for which the store is famous.
