We had a lot of things to show on the booth at Enterprise Connect (photos of the booth) - and I didn' t get time to capture the full array of solutions and services on offer from HP, but I did grab a few minutes with Mushtaq Ahmed, Global Product Manager, from the HP Networking team to discuss HP's integrated solutions from Microsoft and Avaya, and the integration that will become possible with the next release of HP's VCX platform.
Mushtaq talks briefly about the Avaya Aura™ Session Border Controller which provides security for SIP traffic from the branch office, and the HP Survivable Branch Communications powered by Microsoft® Lync™, which provides survivability for the branch office voice communications in the event of an WAN outage.
On Wednesday, I attended the Enterprise Connect afternoon session on QoS & Network design for converged networks, hosted by John Bartlett of NetForecast. The speakers included representation from Cisco, Polycom, Apparent Networks, Netcraftsmen and our own Manfred Arndt from HP Networking’s Advanced Technology Group.
The session set out to demystify the things you need to support real-time multi-media traffic such as voice and video on your network, including QoS on LAN, WAN and the internet, SLAs, topology, mobility, and monitoring.
Today in the HP booth at Enterprise Connect, Robert Smithers, CEO Miercom presented Manfred Arndt, Distinguished Technologist UC&C, HP with the Miercom Certified Green Certification. This recognizes the large number of HP's Energy Efficient switches that have been tested by Miercom.
Miercom is an independent testing lab that rates networking equipment based on several criteria – such as power efficiency, heat dissipation, cooling requirements, energy efficiency and overall product efficiency. To meet Miercom’s stringent Certified Green criteria, HP Networking products had to be in the top 30 percent of the industry for energy efficiency and pass a thorough audit of “green” best practices
I'll be attending Enterprise Connect, formerly known as VoiceCon this year in Orlando, along with a large team from HP. We hope to be able to demonstrate how HP can help you navigate the maze of technologies, vendors and service offerings to simplify your day-to-day business communications.
Arthur Filip, HP Vice President and General Manager for HP Technology Services Consulting, will be keynoting on Wednesday at 11:15 in Osceola C. I haven’t seen his presentation yet - so I can't give you any hints, but it should be interesting to hear what he says.
I won’t be at Interop in New York next week but my colleagues will be on hand to help you understand how to address convergence across servers, storage and networking. Look for HP on Booth #405 in the Cloud Computing zone during the Expo (20-21 Oct. from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm) where we’ll have HP ProLiant servers, BladeSystem Matrix, storage, and networking gear including the A12500 core data center switch; along with panel and speaking sessions from Wednesday through Friday. If you can’t make it to the show yourself, Connect and HP are running a live webcast on Thursday. See the full post for details.
