If you haven’t seen a Gartner Magic Quadrant before – it is a research tool published by Gartner Inc to that provides their qualitative analysis of the participants in a particular market. Gartner rates vendors upon two criteria: completeness of vision and ability to execute. Using different qualifiers per criteria for the varying industries, the Magic Quadrant then places the participants based on each of these parameters. Gartner then uses these component scores to position a vendor position in one of four quadrants. You can read more about the methodology behind the Magic Quadrant from Gartner, or on Wikipeda.
