Everyone likes to keep on top of the latest trends and news from the world of technology, and there’s no better way to stay ahead of the crowd than to attend HP Discover in Barcelona. The event takes place from 2 – 4 December and will once again set the stage for exciting news from HP Storage. We’ll be unveiling new innovations in primary storage and backup, recovery and archiving (BURA). Removing BURA bottlenecks

In my last post I talked about the key storage principles, and pointed out that irrespective of how technology evolves the underlying priorities remain the same: SLAs, cost and the operational environment. These fundamentals apply not only to primary and entry storage, but also to Backup, Recovery and Archive (BURA). BURA has been part of the overall storage landscape since the dawn of time, but it has often been treated like the poor relation. The result? BURA has become a bottleneck for many organisations, and that needs to change if storage is to truly align with wider business objectives.

Innovation, convergence and the pace of change – the customer view

 

Well, I like to keep active around the place so nothing unusual in reporting from Lisbon this week!  I hosted 20 of our large storage users at the HP Customer Advisory Board in an open dialogue about what’s working, what could work better and how the future looks. In my world, it’s never better than when you can spend quality time with customers, share their experiences and learn how to be a better storage provider.
