Document Output for Customer Communications Management – HP Does This
I wonder if many of our Enterprise Printing Blog readers are really aware of the truly end-to-end imaging and printing portfolio (products, solutions, services) HP has lined up.
This came to mind as I was checking out a recent press release and Forrester report which ranked HP Exstream as #1 in the document output for customer communications management (DOCCM) market. Did you know HP does this?
Forrester defines DOCCM as “software used to compose, format, personalize and distribute content to support physical and electronic customer communications and improve the customer experience.”
Yes, HP does that. If you’ve been reading and following our space, you know that HP has steadily been trying to revolutionize the way companies think of printing.
And, by extension, communications.
HP Exstream is a prime example. Businesses worldwide have been turning to HP Exstream to help them streamline document processes and produce all kinds of communications through all kinds of delivery methods – print, mail and online. They think of HP for more than just the cool printer portfolio, or leading managed print services offerings.
It’s great for HP’s breadth to be recognized. Keeps the sparks of possibility burning!

I hope you’ve been enjoying Jean-Pierre’s posts as he shares his thoughts this week from ‘Managing the Challenge’ in Vienna, 26-27 May '09. Great, thought-provoking, commentary.
Which has me thinking that it’s becoming more and more apparent, every time I connect with customers these days, that enterprise businesses are focused more on the bottom line than looking for the newest 'revolutionary' device.
I know it’s a familiar refrain that you see often in this blog, but believe me, CIOs are now digging deeper and taking a more holistic view at their IT environments and how they are connected to their businesses’ strategy overall. They are looking for software and hardware that will be both cost efficient as well as help their enterprises work more productively. From Public Sector to Financial Services, Insurance and Healthcare, enterprises are looking for tailored solutions including software, hardware and services to improve the imaging and printing environment of enterprise businesses.
Yes, HP has great devices, but it’s the whole package, and the tie to improving the bottom line, that is resonating with CIOs.
A key driver in HP’s strategy towards providing value and quality solutions and services is understanding the needs of today’s enterprises. Did you know that most companies are not aware of the true cost of managing their imaging and printing environment? Studies show that as much as 90 percent of an enterprise’s total printing expenses may be invisible or uncontrolled.
Through HP Managed Print Services (MPS), enterprises gain visibility into the true costs of managing their imaging and printing environment and realize both immediate and long-term savings. Furthermore, in today’s economic climate, companies increasingly understand that one of the most promising areas to cut capital expenditures is to look at services. And, MPS may be one of the fastest ways to cut costs immediately, as well as maintain cost savings over time.
What do you think? Do you think the latest ‘greatest’ device or technology is driving CIO interest in enterprise printing? Or, does the whole conversation start with addressing the business problem of boosting the bottom line, improving efficiency and maximizing productivity?
It’s the latter folks. Believe me, it’s the solution, and delivery of the solution, that counts. Check out the solutions HP offers to help you transform your enterprise.

It All Started with the HP LaserJet - 25 Years Ago

Hi everyone - I visited our HP Boise last week and was able to attend HP's celebration to honor the HP LaserJet's 25th Anniversary. Can you believe it's been 25 years since the introduction of the LaserJet? Market-changing, phenomenal technology, impressive business for HP, incredible customer satisfaction - standing the test of time... the HP LaserJet really did usher in a whole new era for office document publishing - making communicating simple, fast and effective. And, over the years, the LaserJet has established the bar for networking, manageability, security and color printing. Pretty impressive, and humbling, stuff.
As a matter of fact, The Idaho Statesman covered the HP LaserJet history beautifully last week.
Immediately following the celebration, I hosted a team meeting for the Enterprise Sales and Services group, and was struck by the juxtaposition of it all.
Let me tell you, it is so true - you can never rest on your laurels, and the innovative culture and drive at HP won't let us do that for a minute. Here the discussion was around the future of printing - beyond the 'box' as we like to say: Managed Print Services, end-to-end solutions, helping create a complete 'ecosystem' for our customers that helps them achieve better business outcomes. Improving the value and interaction our customers get out of the information within their business. And it struck me that, for HP, this really took off 25 years ago with the introduction of the incredibly innovative HP LaserJet, which we celebrate now. But it doesn't end there.
Right now, that's evident by customers' adoption of Managed Print Services -- it's becoming a core IT focus (a key indicator would be the first annual Managed Print Services conference hosted last week by Photizo.) Also, right here, right now, enterprises are looking to HP to help them drive efficiencies and streamline workflows.
And, it doesn't end there either. Down the road, we are looking at a content-centric world that will demand instant access, streamlined storage, maximized reuse and minimal waste (all for less $$$.) I wonder what that 25 year celebration will look like? What do you think?
Check out the HPTV video, Connect With HP LaserJets which emphasizes the collaborative capabilities of HP LaserJet solutions.
