HP Placed in Leaders Quadrant in “Magic Quadrant for MFPs and Printers” Report

I wanted to share some exciting HP news
stemming from a recent Gartner Report. HP is announcing its placement in the
Leaders Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Multifunction Products and Printers.
This comes on the heels of the MPS
Magic Quadrant
where HP was also placed in the Leaders Quadrant.

As a brief re-cap for those that might not be familiar, the Magic Quadrant
positions vendors according to their “ability to execute” and their
“completeness of vision.” These reports are highly valued in the industry, and
we believe securing this position in the Leaders Quadrant reinforces our overall
value to current customers as well as potential customers looking to select HP
as a vendor.

So what exactly are the factors that Gartner assesses to qualify vendors for
placement in the magic quadrant? Vendors are assessed on criteria including:
products or services, sales execution and pricing, market responsiveness and
track record, marketing execution, customer experience, offering strategy,
business model, and geographic strategy.

We consider our placement as a leader to be a great accomplishment and again,
I credit the hard work from our people at HP, our partners and our customers. We
will continue to push ahead, setting industry leading standards and further
building and strengthening our portfolio.

Be sure to keep us on your radar for more exciting news coming out of HP.

ImagePrint 2008

I’m happy to report that ImagePrint 2008 was a tremendous success.  This
year, we had a record number of enterprise customers and channel and solution
partners in attendance.  Not only was it a great turnout, but everything from
the breakout sessions to the keynotes to the solutions showcase were first-rate
and we received extremely positive feedback from our customers and partners
alike.   I have the privilege to work with many smart and talented people at HP
and really saw my team engaging at all levels.

At every turn I was hearing from customers that this event made a difference
and that they are going to take immediate action on building their Print 2.0 plans,
which allow them to save money and improve their business processes just by
assessing their imaging and printing environment.  For those already down the
path of optimizing
their infrastructure
and/or managing
their environments
, they wanted to extend their plans by improving
their workflows
and streamlining their imaging and printing operations.

Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s event.

We’re always honored when HP products are recognized with awards.
But achieving AbsoluteVista.com’s SmallBizVista Superstar Award makes my day
A few choice e
xcerpts:

"Very good service, very white-glove. Then
again, exceptional service has always been a hallmark of HP in general, and the
printer division in particular."

"In the use of the CM6040f, I looked for ease of
use, speed, and versatility. I found it all. This MFC is years ahead of all
supposed competitors in ease of use, value, reliability, versatility,
speed, and functionality. In print/copy mode, having a printer spew out pages at
a 40 page per minute clip in black-and-white or color is just impressive. As a
network fax, the physicians were able to skip two steps in prescription
fulfillment: printing out and faxing a script to pharmacies."

Click over to the
review to read how John Obeto put the HP Color LaserJet CM6040f through the paces in
AbsoluteVista.com’s MedikLab, which John describes as “a fully functioning and
operational multi-provider physician’s
clinic.”

Thanks, John!

HP Enterprise Advisory Council: Gathering Customer Feedback from Around the World

VP, IPG Global Enterprise Business

Just returning back from my trip to Europe.  We met with 12 customers in Berlin, now one of my favorite cities, as part of our enterprise advisory council.  The group of thought leaders represents leading companies in central and eastern Europe, as well as the middle east, Mediterranean and Africa.  We had companies from Russia, Poland, Budapest, Romania, Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, and others.  Over the course of two days, they provided invaluable feedback on our strategy, direction, portfolio, and solutions.

The feedback gathered here impacts the key decisions we will make in the short term and long term.  This council is one of many that we do around the world to keep a close pulse on our customers, market trends, and key opportunities. After the council, we spent two days in southern Germany with our enterprise imaging and printing region leadership team for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).  We have a very strong leadership team that has been consistently growing the business and our market share in EMEA.  It was great to see how our plans are coming together to continue this leadership in the market.

Next week I am off to meet my colleagues from EDS which should be very exciting.  After that, it is another council meeting, this time in Banff, Canada.  It may be time to sell my home and move in to the Marriott!

HP and Kofax: 10 years of printing solutions

Proving that the innovative solutions from HP and our partners are being noticed by our customers, we saw significant interest in mid-August when HP announced five new solutions to our imaging and printing portfolio. These were created by HP Solutions Business Partners Troy, Safecom, Captaris, Standard Register and Kofax, working through our successful Solutions Business Partner (SBP) program, which includes more than 100 partners offering 300+ solutions to date. We’ve seen great benefits with this program so far, and the momentum keeps growing! Check out the media alert for more information.

This week, we’re excited to present a podcast that HP and HP Solutions Business Partner, Kofax, have created in response to our solutions announcement. The interview is held with David Oldfield, director of business development for Kofax, and my colleague, David Laing, HP director of worldwide solutions and services. The two discuss the ten-year business partnership we’ve had with Kofax and the benefits to the solutions announcements that were made last week. It’s so interesting to hear exactly what these solutions are able to do, and amazing to think how far we’ve come in adapting technology to everyday business needs that are often overlooked.
