Another HP-CAST and Supercomputing season is history, making news and setting records. The 23rd HP-CAST meeting, HP's HPC user group, was held in New Orleans on Friday and Saturday (Nov 14 and 15) before Supercomputing 2014 (SC14) with a record turnout. SC14 (sc14.supercomputing.org), the largest worldwide HPC conference and exhibition, took place at the New Orleans Convention Center from Sunday thru Friday (Nov 16 to 21).

Cyfronet AGH to deploy leadership supercomputer with HP Apollo 8000 1.7 petaFLOPS system

While the HP Apollo 8000 system has been making waves this past week in New Orleans at SC14. It was in Poland that Apollo was making news the past month. Poland’s Cyfronet AGH announced its acquisition of a new HP Apollo System called Prometheus to create a leading supercomputing resource for Polish and international scientific collaborations. Prometheus will be the world’s largest installation of HP’s innovative water cooled HP Apollo 8000, but just what does that mean for Cyfronet AGH? What IT benefits will this enable and what does that mean for their end user?

HP Apollo Systems roll out accelerator performance at SC14

HP announced new servers to join the growing portfolio for the HP Apollo 6000 and Apollo 8000 Systems at Supercomputing 2014 this past week. The latest additions are focused on accelerated High Performance Computing (HPC) and represent the next Compute milestone as HP delivers workload optimized infrastructure for faster innovation and cost-effective business results.
