Success at the axis of data center preservation and innovation

By Ben Bauer, Enterprise Services WW Marketing

With the recent publication of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing and Infrastructure Utility Services, North Americ..., Gartner rigorously assesses providers of data center services. Those positioned as Leaders “perform skillfully. They have a clear vision of the market's direction and develop competencies to maintain their leadership. They shape the market rather than follow it.”

This Magic Quadrant graphic was published by Gartner, Inc. as part of a larger research note and should be evaluated in the context of the entire report. The Gartner report is available upon request from HP.

The report paints a picture of who measures up with best practices in running what you have today (preservation) and what you can expect in the future (innovation). It’s a good resource as you consider strategies to move along that continuum: what to do with that dated facility that’s over-capacity … how to plan a more-efficient facility that reduces your carbon footprint and helps you serve a new market.

At HP, we know that our “Leader” position in the report isn’t the result of marketing. It’s through attention to the details of our data center infrastructure, and even more importantly, it’s through attention to our data center services clients. What clients say about services can make or break a company. In the Gartner report, customer experience — which they weight as "high” — evaluated the reference customers' overall satisfaction with the service and the relationship.
