Discover the most exciting time for Applications at Barcelona

It's a great time for apps, says Paul Evans in the Track Keynote TK2350 at HP Discover, Barcelona. Applications Transformation positions enterprises to take full advantage of the New Style of IT, driven by technologies like cloud, collaboration and mobility. The conference track keynotes reinforce the reasons why it is the most exciting time for enterprises to maximize the value Systems of Engagement while integrating with the Systems of Record.

Key messages emerge from the track keynote abstracts that crystallize the New Style of IT:

1. Enterprises need a trusted partner to define their journey into the future. HP Enterprise Services (ES) VP Mike Nefkens recently issued a call to build a better enterprise together. In TK1924, Larry Stack discusses how ES works with enterprises to define their IT journey, highlighting the transformation and movement of applications to the cloud. Stack discusses how the New Style of IT can help enterprises achieve a new style of business.

2. Big Data needs an environment of its own. TK1769 highlights HP Autonomy IDOL – the Operating System for human information – describing how software tools have turned the tables on computers.  TK2093 session on connected intelligence brings home the fact that Big Data is nothing without analytics; describing how actionable insight can be securely delivered to the right person at decision time. Given the incessant growth of data, TK1987 describes why it is vital that the right operational environment is in place as well.

3. It is a brave new social world of mobile interactions. Mobility, the new interaction model, makes Systems of Engagement real in our daily lives. TK2087 describes how a systems-level approach to mobility is vital to accelerating mobility execution, fulfilling business objectives while delivering on effective mobile interactions.

4. Tis the season to be choosy when converging to the Cloud. What does the term “hybrid” really mean? In TK2332, Saar Gillai, Senior VP and GM of HP Cloud, bursts the hype and shares specific steps that enterprises can take to set their organizations on a successful path to the Cloud. In a related vein, you can also watch HP CTO Martin Fink go from a blank laptop to “Hello World” in ten minutes —demonstrating the New Style of Cloud Development.

5. Are you realizing the Return on Infrastructure (ROI)? TK2092 showcases innovative technologies that can address the full range of workloads in the digital universe. Is it time to give your data center an extreme makeover?, asks Jean-Paul Wagner, Senior VP and GM, HP Technology Services. Finally, Tom Joyce, Senior VP, Converged Systems brings it home in TK2319 by highlighting the latest HP innovations and solutions.

There you have it. It is indeed the most exciting time – not just for Applications – but for you, the attendee as well. You ask why? Because the HP Discover in Barcelona will continue to be the System of Engagement that I had projected it to be at Las Vegas.
