First Webjam—Impact of Cloud Computing on our job descriptions

You might not know this, but I co-chair the Cloud Governance Project within The Open Group—one of the many projects on the Cloud Work Group’s roster. Recently, the Cloud Work Group introduced the concept of a webjam—an informal way for members with a common interest to have an interactive brainstorm or debate—on a topic of their choice for some of its monthly sessions. The webjam is open to all members of the Cloud Work Group projects. Think of it as a panel discussion—except everyone on the call is part of the panel! I recently coordinated the first-ever webjam for our group. We used, "What will Cloud do to your resume?" as a topic.

Outpacing the market by innovating for success at HP Discover

Chris Moyer, CTO and Fellow and John McGuire, Senior VP, Global Sales from HP Enterprise Services addressed two questions in a track session at HP Discover in Frankfurt: Can your IT outpace the market? How to innovate for success? To reinforce their answers, they made market observations and used actual examples of how HP customers used Cloud, Information Optimization, and Security solutions to address situations in their own enterprises.

Tis the season to be choosy when converging to the cloud

It’s that time of the year when we must pay attention, and match the right clothes to the right social gathering. It may be a holiday party at the workplace (semi-formal) or an extended family gathering (casual). Our closet contains a combination of clothing styles that work together to consistently define our personal style. Enterprises are no different. Enterprises need to have the right type of cloud for the right scenario. But it’s not enough to have a choice in the cloud delivery models.
