Commercial UNIX & Linux: Most defiantly complimentary, not in the least competitive

In previous posts, I discussed the webinar we recorded with Dan Olds, founder & principal of the Gabriel Consulting Group showcasing several short podcasts recorded to highlight key areas of the UNIX vendor preferences survey.

 

The first podcast (Commercial UNIX, built for today and engineered for tomorrow) shed light on the types of customers using UNIX and how they choose their UNIX vendors.

 

In the second podcast (Considering a UNIX system? Know the top purchase considerations) Dan Olds and HP took a deeper dive into the commercial UNIX buying criteria and the importance of availability and stability to customers when considering a UNIX system.

 

In this podcast, Dan shares insights into how Linux operating systems match up against HP-UX and how customers use both OEs in their IT environments.

  • Vinay Gupta is an HP Distinguished Technologist and the NonStop Manageability Architect. He joined Tandem in 1994 after graduating from Indian Institute of Technology.   • Wendy Bartlett is a Distinguished Technologist in HP’s NonStop Enterprise Division, and focuses on dependability – security and availability - for the NonStop server line. She joined Tandem in 1978. Her other main area of interest is system architecture evolution. She has an M.S. degree in computer science from Stanford University.
