Could you migrate your Sybase data quickly and easily?

There are a plethora of databases and infrastructures available today. However, once you've chosen a database and infrastructure, it is difficult to move data to a different one. This locks you into the infrastructure for many years, even if there are better fitting systems available for your organization. One of the databases that has been getting a little more attention recently is Sybase, especially since they've be purchased by SAP.

Options
Sybase used to be supported on OpenVMS. There are companies which are still running sybase on OpenVMS and wondering where to migrate to. HP should offer the choice of staying on OpenVMS and moving to a different database (mimer, mysql, rdb, oracle) as well as the choice of moving to sybase on HPUX/Linux
