HP DL980 Solution Pays Off for Paycor

What if the company you work for said, “You now have only 4 hours within your day to complete 80-90% of your workload, oh and by the way that only includes Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday”.  How important would it be for the technology you rely on to not only be at your fingertips for all 12 important hours but for the technology to respond quickly and reliably?  This is the reality for the payroll company Paycor.

Based out of Cincinnati, Ohio and serving 19,000 clients with offices in 19 cities, Paycor has 500 employees that must meet the demands of their clients payroll needs.  With a growth rate of 15%-20% per year, Paycor’s IT infrastructure needed to be upgraded to meet their growing demands.

With their current servers running at near capacity and during those peak 12 hours reaching upwards of 75% to 80% of server utilization.  Paycor knew that their already existing partnership with HP would create a lasting solution to not only meet their clients’ needs but the needs of their employees all the while being able to handle growth.

Paycor decided to rely on HP’s DL980 G7 servers with Intel Xeon processors to meet their needs.  The impact of the implementation was immediate.  As Kevin Armour, chief technology officer, states “On our first full day of production use, the performance was fantastic! Prior to the new server implementation, we maintained 75% to 80% CPU utilization during the 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. peak processing time, but with the new DL980 servers, the CPU maintained below 20% utilization.”

Armour goes on to state, “Even with transaction volume high, it looks like the DL980 is saying to us, ‘You got anything more for me to do?’”  To find out more about what the HP DL980 solution can do check out the HP Paycor Video.
