HP NonStop in an Instant-On Enterprise: Experience at HP Discover in Las Vegas
“It’s not Tandem, it’s NonStop” – that was the theme of Winston Prather, VP & GM of HP NonStop Enterprise Division and Mission Critical Business Systems. Winston and Randy Meyer, Director of HP NonStop Enterprise Division Product Management, Education and Technology, kicked off the HP NonStop presence at HP Discover with very well-attended session - The HP Integrity NonStop Server: All Modern, All standard, All NonStop. The message that HP NonStop provides a perfect path for mission critical customers to create an Instant-On Enterprise with zero application downtime, extreme scalability, high security and modern application environment, application development environment and manageability, was very loud and clear in this session.
That was just the beginning…
The rest of the sessions at HP Discover continued telling customers how HP NonStop platform has become all modern, all standard, and still remains 100% NonStop. It’s the marriage of NonStop fundamentals to the modern technology that makes NonStop platform the choice of so many enterprises in finance, Telco, healthcare, public sector and other industries.
My own breakout session titled “HP NonStop in an Instant-On Enterprise: operations and manageability” was very well attended. I got bigger audience than I expected, and it was a very interactive session. The days when I had to explain to the customers what HP SIM (Systems Insight Manager) was, and how HP NonStop Essentials plug-ins help providing higher TCO are gone. Many customers are already using these products; others have read about it and are planning to use them; and yet others want to learn more before seriously considering it. Now, my session was more about the new exciting features that have been added across NonStop manageability portfolio, and even more exciting features that we are working on. Thanks to all who attended the session, and made my trip worth.
My other breakout session titled “HP's BTO portfolio to optimize NonStop business technology” was also a success. It was scheduled the last day (Friday) morning, and many of the attendees were preparing to leave or had already left, and thus, the number of attendees was smaller. However, the interest in the products was tremendous nonetheless. I was excited to present tremendous breadth and depth of NonStop support in HP BTO products, and how they can help solve real business problems. Customers understood it, and also, they realized that there is a lot of awareness issue with HP BTO support of NonStop. Almost all big enterprises that use NonStop systems also use HP BTO products, but many people don’t know that NonStop has support in most major BTO products. I made a request to the attendees to take the message back to their enterprise, work with their counterparts, and help fitting NonStop in the overall business management architecture using HP BTO products.
I also had opportunity to attend NonStop General SIG and NonStop Security SIG. As usual, the passion of NonStop customers was so overwhelming.
Attending other non-NonStop sessions and booths is always an attraction to me during these conferences. These help me make contacts that are valuable while trying to add NonStop support in HP-standard architectures and products.
Meeting partners and learning what they are doing was another treat. NonStop has a history of a wonderful partner ecosystem, and learning new inventions in partner products is always interesting.
If I have to choose one thing that I valued the most at HP Discover was the customer interaction I received at Discover Zone. All the times I was at the NonStop manageability booth, I had customers come by one after the other. Some of them wanted to see the demo of HP SIM, HP Insight Control Power Management, NonStop Cluster Essentials, NonStop Performance Essentials, NonStop I/O Essentials, NonStop Software Essentials, etc, which I was showcasing. Some of them had specific questions related to migration to HP Insight Remote Support Advanced or some other topic. Some of them actually wanted to share with me how they are using these products to solve their real business problems. It was very exciting for me to learn about customer experience. This always helps me in my job as NonStop Manageability Architect to design the solutions that solve customer’s business problems.
At the end, I would like to thank all of HP Discover attendees (more than 10,000) to make this conference a real success, and a wonderful experience for me.
