HP-UX Keeps Going Strong with 4 Areas of Valuable Enhancements in Sept 2011 Update

rabbit.JPGHave you ever wondered what the connection is between HP-UX 11i v3 and that famous bunny that just keeps “going and going”?  Like the bunny, HP-UX 11i v3 has been “going and going” since 2007 delivering the key software enhancements most needed by our mission-critical customers.  And with our September 2011 update release (also known as Update 9 for those of you who prefer the numerical vs. chronological approach or 11-09 for people really in the know) we continue going strong! I’ve mentioned some of the key release highlights below.

Simplify and unify IT:

With the September 2011 update, you can now double the size of your Superdome server and support Superdome servers with 32 sockets and 4TB of memory.

Always on resiliency:

Serviceguard is now integrated with HP 3PAR storage arrays, providing added uptime options. With Serviceguard Metrocluster and Continentalclusters, you can now do synchronous replication and automated failover for rapid recovery of 3PAR Storage array data giving you with more disaster recovery options.  We’ve also made improvements in SGeSAP to help keep SAP up and running by guarding against failure and downtime of SAP.

Dynamic Optimization:

HP Containers 3.1 adds new features to simplify container manageability which means you can now easily update HP-UX in a container environment and also replicate containers for faster container set up.

For those that use Matrix OE 6.3, now included in the HP-UX 11i v3 September 2011 Virtual Server Environment Operating Environment (VSE-OE ) you can extend your HP-UX  infrastructure management by increasing the number of HP-UX/Integrity provisioned nodes by up to 3200 nodes. In addition, Superdome 2 VM Hosts can now be managed as part of the Matrix OE resource pool.

Investment Protection and Stability

You can now run X.25 applications on the new Integrity servers unchanged! Take a look at our datasheet for more information.  Also, HP 9000 Containers v3 is using new system containers to consolidate multiple HP 9000 unique private environments onto one Integrity server which means you can more fully leverage the power of the Integrity server infrastructure!
