Itanium Solutions Alliance Innovation Awards 2010 - Humanitarian Award goes to Spain's Computaex

The Itanium Solutions Alliance holds a yearly innovation awards ceremony, and this year, it will be on September 14th in San Francisco in conjunction with the Intel Developer Forum. Earlier this week, Intel announced that the winner of the 2010 Humanitarian Innovation award went to Spain's La Fundacion Computacion y Tecnologias Avanzadas de Extremadura (COMPUTAEX). It uses Itanium-based servers to manage processes and data sets for its many research projects around social, environmental, and scientific improvement fields.

Oracle E-Business Suite Release supported on Itanium Servers

The Itanium Solutions Alliance has a new blog post out about Oracle announcing that Oracle Database 11g Release 2 version  11.2.0.1 has been certified with oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (12.0, 12.1) for HP-UX on Itanium based servers. I know that Oracle E-Business Suite is something that comes up regularly in conversations that I have with customers, so this is good news. Oracle certification level information is available here.

One a somewhat unrelated note, we just had Louis Gray present to us here at HP on blogging. It was a great session, and if you want to learn a little more about writing a successful blog, you might want to check out his blog at http://blog.louisgray.com. He has been kind enough to post the presentation he is giving us on this site for anyone to view.

Itanium Innovation Awards 2010

Something interesting came through my e-mail today that I thought I would share with everyone. The Itanium Solutions Alliance has invited Itanium users to submit what they are doing with Itanium-based servers, including HP Integrity servers for recognition and rewards. There are four categories:

  • Mission-Critical Data

  • Data Center Modernization

  • Computationally Intensive Applications

  • Humanitarian Impact - which includes a $25,000 prize

The awards celebration will happen during the Intel Development Forum on September 14th, 2010 in San Francisco. Submission forms and more details are available on the Itanium Solutions Alliance web site. Submissions are due on April 12, 2010.
