Could you migrate your Sybase data quickly and easily?
There are a plethora of databases and infrastructures available today. However, once you've chosen a database and infrastructure, it is difficult to move data to a different one. This locks you into the infrastructure for many years, even if there are better fitting systems available for your organization. One of the databases that has been getting a little more attention recently is Sybase, especially since they've be purchased by SAP.
Selecting a Database Intelligence Solution
About a week ago, Sybase announced that along with HP, it had released a new Sybase Business Intelligence on ProLiant DL785 G6 reference architecture [PDF]. Like all good reference architectures, it makes selecting and sizing the hardware as well as figuring out the correct configuration and best practices much easier. I've spoken with customers about other reference architectures, and while their end deployment is usually a little different than the reference architecture, having a tested starting point greatly simplifies their design, sizing, and testing processes.
