zt1000 CTO version

I recently purchased a ZT1000 Pavilion notebook CTO (customized version) from bestbuy (Mobile P4 1.5 Ghz).

I saw in s/w patches, drivers upgrade page (http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix73280.html) listing BIOS updates for ZT1xxx Pavilion IB series computers.

My question is, do I need apply these BIOS upgrades to my machine (if at all, I need to update)?.

Thanks for your help

Re: zt1000 CTO version

Take a look at your current BIOS version.

The first two letters will be your tech code.
ie: IB.M1.04

As far as updating goes, it also goes back to the old saying.. 'If it aint broke.. '

On the other hand some people like to keep as updated as possible.

Maybe check the release notes for your updates and determine whether you need them or not.
As far as I know, the most important ones are: 1) the modem update (on ZT1000), if you use a digital phone line
2) BIOS updates are normally good
3) video drivers are always good to use the updated versions

Best to judge for yourself though.
