The big start for the Red Hat Summit will be begin today in Boston (6/23), but here’s a re-cap of the Red Hat Partner Conference and Advisory Council from Tuesday 6/22:
Partner Conference:
- Event for 75+ channel resellers/distributors
- Red Hat launched a Channel Partner training program and tools for clouds: Red Hat Cloud Foundations: Volume One
- Goal: give a tool to partners so they can talk with customers about building a cloud today (sales guides, battlecards, products, services, cook books and Reference architecture).
Partner Advisory Council (1/2 day session):
- 25 strategic partners represented at their 2nd annual event: HP (4 representatives), IBM (3), Cisco (2), Dell (1), Intel (2), AMD (2), Sybase (1), Samsung (2), Fujitsu (2), Accenture (1), Lockheed (1), Unisys (1), CA (1)
- Strong push for virtualization (RHEV) and middleware (JBoss), these are the biggest growth areas from Red Hat
- JBoss claims:
- 30 million downloads of the SW from the community
- 550+ certified apps on JBoss (up from 200 in CY09, goal is 1,000 by end of CY10)
- Red Hat made bold claims about 60% of customers with middleware SW will migrate to JBoss (*self commissioned RH survey)
Other:
- Red Hat announced their Q1 results: Record quarter, $209.5M and beat analysts guidance of $202M
