Choosing and configuring the Best RAID set for your HP ProLiant Server

HP ProLiant Gen8 servers offer several choices in the Smart Array RAID controller family.  Connectivity, maximum internal and external options as well as port speed are a few aspects to consider in determining the best Smart Array Controller.  HP Smart Array RAID controllers support a large variety or RAID sets.  And choosing the appropriate RAID set alignment for fault tolerance, capacity and performance should be considered.

Scott Bunker, HP Design Architect within ISS Smart Storage team, introduces you to “How to Choose the right RAID set for your HP ProLiant Server” in this informative video. For example, Scott reviews how basic RAID 10 delivers the best write performance, however RAID 10 ADM provides the highest fault tolerance, and RAID 5 offers the largest available capacity.

Scott reviews the different application needs of today’s business environments.  Also, the HP Product portfolio is presented for different offerings to meet performance and capacity requirements of servers, Hard drives, controllers, HBAs, as well as IO accelerators.
