HANA - An HP and SAP collaborat ive, unique, end-to-end technology innovation !.
HANA stands for High Performance Analytic application, a joint innovative technology solution by HP and SAP.
To capture the benefits of in-memory computing, "SAP will offer a combined hardware and software solution that comprises server technology from HP with the SAP Business Analytic Engine. The combined solution is called HANA: high-performance analytic appliance, and will be made available to customers on SAP ERP 4.6 and higher. Building on SAP and HP's strategic alliance and joint go-to-market initiative for the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator software and SAP BusinessObjects software, SAP has selected HP as one of the first strategic alliance partners to provide converged infrastructure technology for the new high-performance analytic appliance.
In-memory computing is the next wave of technology innovation possessing exponential potential to change enterprises. Leveraging in-memory technology and the HP Converged Infrastructure, we are jointly enabling customers to drive immediate business value from IT technology -- rather than having to wait for days, months or years.
Ground-breaking innovation - Huge order of magnitude improvement in data processing speed and volume.
Movement to In-Memory from On Disk makes it viable in performance to deal with increasing information volumes.
Technological advances (e.g. better price/performance) make it cost feasible– making it easy for mass adoption. For instance, the HP ProLiant DL980 with 2 TB Memory used for development and testing HANA – or the industry first 1 TB ProLiant blade server from HP - launched this week. Also, in-memory computing allows for data to be more easily shared between systems, structured/unstructured." Source: From SAP's Sanjay Poonen's speech at the Tech Forum.
HP's Converged Infrastructure strategy to resource the "IT Sprawl" and SAP's "OnPremise, OnDemand, OnDevice" strategy to handle the overwhelming "Data Deluge" as the Economist magazine calls it. HP advances the Converged Infrastructure strategy with innovations in blade architectures, storage and scale-up x86 systems to eliminate millions in data center acquisition and operational costs over three years.
