Get HP server news, technology trends, and product information to stay up to date with what is happening in the server world.

Hear what customers are saying about HP iLO. Spoiler alert: it’s all good news.

I recently posted information on how HP Integrated Lights Out (iLO) is has been creating buzz within the server industry. Instead of focusing on industry feedback I’ll be switch gears today and convey what end users are communicating about iLO.

HP iLO is designed to help businesses manage their servers from remote locations—translating into recovered time and cost savings for you. HP iLO is a suite of management technologies, embedded in HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers, supporting the complete lifecycle from initial deployment to ongoing management and service alerting. This makes your out of the box experience easy to deploy and easy for day to day monitoring.

Several examples illustrating what actual end users are saying about HP iLO include:

  • “The HP iLO 4 Management Engine is great for remote administration…If we have a server that’s down for some reason, we can quickly access the situation and reset the server through iLO.”  -Dustin Simonson, System Architect, Compudyne (Full Case Study)
  • “By using the HP iLO, we can provision new physical servers quickly.” -Danny Houssain, Infrastructure Manager, Edmonton Catholic School District (Full Case Study)
  • “The new HP iLO Management Engine, Insight Online, Insight Remote Support and the SmartDrives: these are the areas where HP ProLiant Gen8 servers really shine.”  -Lee Solomon, Nth Labs Manager, Nth Generation (Full Case Study)
  • “…we decided to go with HP because of the very compelling remote management environment. … And that has paid off so many times over...we wanted a lights-out operation, where we are not present in the data center…From the HP iLO environment that allows us to control a server remotely to the actual configuration management of the blade chassis infrastructure itself…” -Derek Ballings, Data Center Manager, Answers.com (Full Case Study)
  • “We’re taking advantage of the capabilities of HP Integrated Lights Out (iLO) Advanced remote management software and HP Systems Insight Manager to reduce the time it takes to evaluate problems. We’ve become more proactive since integrating the remote management product with Systems Insight Manager. It gives us better reporting from a centralized location,”  -Paul Roybal, Chief Information Officer, Bernalillo County, New Mexico (Full Case Study)
  • With HP Agentless Management and HP iLO 4, we start to move away from multiple agent models…We get even closer to monitoring everything from a single pane of glass.” -Ryan Burgess, Infrastructure Architect, North Shore Credit Union (Full Case Study)
  • We may use the fine-grained power monitoring and power capping in iLO4 as a way to slow down the parts of the cluster we’re not using and keep job performance as high as possible.” -Mike Shuey, HPC Systems Manager, Purdue University(Full Case Study)
  • “The iLO management tools make it easy to administer the blades remotely.” -Ryan Brinch, Systems Administrator, St Andrew’s College (Full Case Study)

HPilo is for me a tool not enough mature.
The idea is good, but not enough to be used on production environment.
