SPP-2012.01 and HP SUM 5 are now available

HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) version 2012.01.0 is now here and available for download at www.hp.com/go/spp/download!  Previously versioned as 2011.12.0, it is now re-versioned at 2012.01.0 to reflect its availability date of January, 2012.  This service pack version update contains HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) 5 and allows for a tremendously improved system software maintenance experience.  Both HP SPP and HP SUM are innovative, industry-leading, solutions-oriented new tools for systems software and firmware management.

 

The HP SPP provides release predictability with 3-5 base releases per year that typically coincide with HP ProLiant server releases. Drivers and other systems software and firmware are bundled into an update package for ease of access.  This translates to less time searching across multiple sites for downloads, documentation, and performing maintenance updates as you can go to www.hp.com/go/spp/download to get the SPP and www.hp.com/go/spp/documentation for all related documentation.  

 

HP SUM 5 is the SPP’s deployment engine that dramatically simplifies the system maintenance process through automation of tasks and improved reporting.  With the combined capability of HP SUM and the HP SPP you will have more flexibility and control as well as more uptime (or less downtime) and overall better operating stability with:

  • Up to 3x faster, online updates  *
  • Up to 93% reduction in server downtime *
  • System interdependencies tested for increased confidence and reliability
  • 1year of SPP support

In addition to supporting both Windows and Linux, this SPP supports VMware ESXi 5.0 and VMware ESX/ESXi 4.1 in offline mode only. Online FW support for VMware is targeted for 2H 2012.

Big enhancments!

But we are still not able to Put the ISO Image to a bootable USB Sitck, the HP USB Tool does not work for this, as with prior Versions (before SPP).

Workaround: First Burn a DVD, than to USB
