Supercharged Scalability & Performance for SQL Server 2014 with HP PCIe Workload Accelerators

Guest blog by Thomas Brooks, HP Server Options Worldwide Product Marketing Manager, Solid State Products

Feature-rich Microsoft SQL Server 2014 is the platform of choice for many organizations processing vast amounts of data and demanding increased productivity based on better business insights.

With SQL Server 2014, In-Memory OLTP improves OLTP performance by up to 30X and query performance by 100X. Running SQL Server 2014 on an HP DL580 Gen8 server with transaction performance gains of up to 30X enables you to benefit from Microsoft’s In-Memory OLTP features. An additional 4X performance acceleration - or more for SQL 2008 and SQL 2012 - can be gained simply by adding up to 8 HP Light Endurance (LE) or Value Endurance (VE) PCIe Workload Accelerators. As an in-server memory performance tier, Workload Accelerators push your performance density envelope with flash memory capacities up to 6.4TB. These accelerator cards provide scalable, cost-effective, in-server flash acceleration for speeding up real-time intelligence and increasing business productivity.

At HP Discover, we are demoing TPC-C like performance results that show more than 1.2 million new orders per minute while simultaneously backing up four 600GB databases with a database backup throughput of 4GB/second. The new low latency HP Light Endurance and Value Endurance PCIe Workload Accelerators are powered by Fusion-io and deliver microsecond response times. Learn more about the HP PCIe Workload Accelerators here.

Check out the HP PCIe Accelerator demos in HP Booths 1240-1244 and Fusion-io Booth 2028 at HP Discover. Also join Antonio Neri, HP's Senior VP and GM of HP Servers and Networking, on Tuesday, June 10th at 1:00 pm for the HP Server Track Keynote titled Succeeding in a new era of compute with HP Servers. Are you ready? (Session TK3770). Joining Antonio on stage will be Steve Wozniak, Chief Scientist at Fusion-io.
