Susan (small).jpgHP believes its  position as a “Leader” in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Modular Servers represents the strength of our broad server portfolio and reinforces our strategy of delivering the right compute for the right workload at the right economics. Learn why Gartner positioned HP as a “Leader” in their inaugural “Modular Servers” Magic Quadrant.

Executive Summary

Gartner recently released their inaugural “Modular Servers” Magic Quadrant, assessing vendor offerings according to the vendor’s “ability to execute” and “vision”. HP believes its position as a “Leader” in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Modular Servers represents the strength of our broad server portfolio and reinforces our strategy of delivering the right compute for the right workload at the right economics.

What You Should Know

ScopeGartner defines “modular server” one in which the compute capabilities are delivered in a modular style and housed in a common, often proprietary chassis. Storage and network components may also be housed within the same chassis housing.

HP’s portfolio is extensive and includes:

HP BladeSystem – HP continues to invest in new infrastructure technologies delivering capabilities and benefits to customers – notably the advances inherent in the Platinum update, just 12 months ago, plus HP OneView have resulted in HP’s ability to provide customers with truly greater agility, speed and operational efficiency.

More and more enterprises are choosing HP OneView+ HP BladeSystem because it saves  time and costs managing their infrastructure. As an example, a large automotive company selected HP OneView for infrastructure, patch and firmware management. They are realizing benefits such as:

      • Easy management: HP OneView is more automated, so users don’t have to do as many manual steps. There’s also no need to switch between multiple tools to complete tasks.
      • Time savings: Users spend less time on administrating the infrastructure, and the process is less complicated because they are using only one tool.

As of today more than 120,000 HP OneView licenses have been installed in more than 1,300 data centers in over 80 countries.

HP Apollo (including the servers formerly branded as SL)—The new HP Apollo family of High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions combines a state-of-the-art modular design with innovative power distribution and cooling techniques to address the specific space, power and data center efficiency challenges of HPC environments.

HP Integrity Superdome X servers are for YOU if your mission-critical applications are running on a costly proprietary system and you are concerned about x86 reliability and availability. And, if you are using standard x86 infrastructure to power these critical workloads but need extra scalability, performace or uptime.

HP Integrity NonStop X-- The new NonStop X is the only fully-integrated, fault-tolerant compute for continuously available x86 solutions. Mitigate the risk of downtime and effortlessly meet your business processing, OLTP, and database requirements.

HP Moonshot—A complete server system engineered for specific workloads and delivered in a dense, energy-efficient package. Customers can choose HP Moonshot cartridges for web serving, hosted desktops, video transcoding, application delivery, real-time data processing, and more.

With such a broad portfolio, HP has developed tools to help its customers and channel partners determine the right platform for their customers’ environments and workloads and operational styles.  We understand that data center managers need vendor guidance on how to match the right HP product to the right workload and that’s what these tools are designed to do.

According to Gartner, Leaders in this Magic Quadrant distinguish themselves by offering a service suitable for strategic adoption and by having an ambitious roadmap. They have a track record of successful delivery, significant market share and many referenceable customers.

Bottom Line

HP uniquely addresses requirements for the “New Style of IT” with its broad portfolio of workload-optimized compute. We believe Gartner’s positioning of HP as a leader furthest in vision and highest in ability to execute, together with HP’s commitment to innovation, should affirm customers’ selection of HP as a compute partner.
