Convergence or Disaggregation of IT infrastructures Doesn’t Have to Be The Choice

DR.pngGuest Blog by Dr. Tom Bradicich, VP Server Engineering

When I teach college engineering classes, I talk to my students about “mutually exclusive objectives”. This conflict arises when two objectives are opposing, and seemly cannot exist at the same time. For example, when I was a young engineer designing one of the industry’s first notebook computers, I was challenged with making it light weight AND making the battery last a long time. This was mutually exclusive objective because I could make the computer light weight, but the resulting light weight battery wouldn’t last long. Today these are no longer conflicting objectives. A solution to BOTH was discovered. So it is with many things in life. If you can solve mutually exclusive objectives, I’d say, you’ll advance your company and your career.

Today’s Digital Economy Demands Fast Action IT Super Heroes!

Superman is faster than a speeding locomotive. He can leap tall buildings with a single bound. And with his powerful X-ray vision, he can spot emerging problems a mile off. Too bad we don’t have a team of IT Supermen to come to the rescue of IT departments everywhere that are struggling to keep up with the speed of growth in the exploding world of digital commerce.

Emerging in the New Style of Business Like a Butterfly

Emerging in the New Style of Business Like a Butterfly

Guest Blog by Susan Blocher, Vice President HP Servers Marketing

We’re all aware of the importance of technology trends like cloud, security, mobility, and big data—trends that are accelerating innovation and revolutionizing the very nature of work and how it gets done. Pressured to deliver new services faster, IT is in the middle of a fascinating transformation; emerging like a butterfly from back office operations that kept systems running to a flexible and powerful entity that can innovate and respond.

The Need For Speed Is Critical To The Future Of IT

Susan (small).jpgGuest blog by Susan Blocher, HP Servers Global Marketing

As the forces of mobility, cloud, security, and #BigData continue to converge, today’s enterprises are facing tremendous risk—but also tremendous opportunity.

To navigate the new world of business, IT will need to take a very hard look at innovating to manage tremendous real-time IT tasks, such as:

    • Tracking assets and customers
    • Matching needs to available services in the most efficient manner
    • Instantly billing, and notifying all involved parties

Success will hinge largely on quickly transitioning from a series of siloed systems to a fully virtualized, services-focused IT infrastructure – in other words, execution speed will be crucial.

Unleash the power of object storage in your environment

Data is growing at a rapid and an exponential rate. Seemingly mundane daily tasks (like watching a TV show or ordering a cup of coffee) trigger massive amounts of data creation.  And this is data that can be used to improve our everyday experiences, from product decisions to lowering costs to finding new music.
