HP AppSystems for SAP HANA raise the bar with #1 result on SAP Netweaver BW-EML benchmark

By Manoj Suvarna - Director, Product Management, HP Converged Systems

HP AppSystems for SAP HANA® achieves 129,930 ad-hoc query navigation steps

SAP HANA is a new platform where customers are trying to understand how it will perform in their real world environment or compare to existing solutions.   Well, HP’s newly certified benchmark just demonstrated that HP AppSystems for SAP HANA can handle the toughest, most complex workloads!

SAP’s BW-EML benchmark was designed to provide standard measurement of how applications will perform in real world scenarios.  HP AppSystems posted a world-record result on the SAP NetWeaver BW-EML standard application benchmark with an unbelievable 129,930 ad-hoc query navigation steps with 1 billion initial records on the SAP HANA® platform (certification 2013027).

This benchmark was jointly initiated by HP and SAP, to demonstrate a real customer production environment, running ad-hoc reports while performing data load operations and queries, running on an X86 Intel platform.

This result blows the competition away on any platform.  The nearest competitor,  IBM  Power based platform, ran a similar test with 66,900 ad-hoc query navigation steps with 500 million initial records (certification 2013020), but didn’t perform nearly as well as HP.   If you look at both benchmarks, what does it all mean?  Can any conclusions be drawn by simply comparing the data?

Although, it’s not always easy to compare benchmark results due to a number of variables, (i.e. different data sizes), it’s worth noting that HP’s recent SAP Netweaver BW-EML standard application benchmark results are outstanding and irrefutable, especially when compared to other vendors’ benchmark results.  Look at the numbers to draw your own conclusions.

The result demonstrates the ability of HP AppSystems for the SAP HANA database to deliver on today’s new customer demands, providing unprecedented user access to data and delivering outstanding, scalable analytic performance in seconds versus hours on massive, multi-dimensional databases.

Ultimately, it will change the way you do business - faster data and faster access means you can respond to market demand and trends faster – ultimately having a leg up on your competition.

Can any other vendor top these results on another platform?  Maybe…. but it won’t be any time soon.
