New Guinness World Record for Big Data from HP, SAP, Red Hat & BMMsoft

By Manoj Suvarna - Director, HP Converged Systems

HP has been delivering blazing fast performance with SAP on many platforms throughout our +25 year partnership, and together with our partners, Red Hat and BMMSoft we achieved a Guinness World Record for Big Data which was announced today by SAP.

The new world record for Big Data data loading with SAP® Sybase® IQ software, in partnership with HP, BMMsoft, and Red Hat (RHEL), showed an audited result of 34.3 terabytes per hour, far outdistancing the previous record of 14 terabytes per hour achieved by the same partners on an earlier version of SAP Sybase IQ.

The solution delivers the unparalleled ability to load and analyze 823 terabytes per day and 5.7 petabytes per week of structured and unstructured data with SAP Sybase IQ 16, in combination with HP ProLiant DL980 G7 servers,HP 3PAR storage, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 and BMMsoft’s Email, Document, Multimedia and database Transactions 9 (EDMT).  Customers can gain significantly faster access to massive amounts of business data and extract its value for more accurate insight into business performance and changes in the market.

SAP Sybase IQ makes it simpler and more cost-effective to extend the power of business analytics, while BMMsoft EDMT adds the ability to seize the value of unstructured data.  And HP, running RHEL 6.1 on HP ProLiant DL980 G7 servers, delivers the balanced scaling, self-healing resiliency and breakthrough efficiency needed toovercome the challenges of today's most demanding x86 compute environments.

This new record easily exceeds published data loading results by other companies, and proves this solution can readily handle massive-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Big Data analytics by providing high speed data loading, indexing, immediate access, and deep analysis of both structured and unstructured data.

This is yet another instance of HP’s technology leadership on SAP solutions, such as our leading HP AppSystems for SAP HANA and our portfolio of offerings for SAP Sybase.
